Our Safety and Security Committee recommends that if you encounter this activity call EBRSO at 389-5000. Then invite the sales people to wait at the street and discuss it with the Sheriff’s Deputy.
READ THIS CAREFULLY:
Some people have fallen for the sales pitch to either take over existing monitoring or add more window or door coverage on behalf of your existing alarm company (the one with its name on the sign in your flowerbed) at an amazing price. To do this, people have foolishly allowed people they don’t know and did not call to come into their home and actually showed the “salesman” which doors and windows need protection. From a security perspective, this rates right up there with posting your social security, banking and credit card information on Facebook.
In summary, door-to-door peddlers have the potential to be more than a nuisance. Their efforts could be gathering information in preparation for some criminal activity.
