So I told the Young Girl, “It sounds like you are too concerned about these others and not doing what is best for you.
I am not suggesting that you be mean but why should you make yourself responsible for them or be fearful of them? If you keep this up, you will be eating collard greens for the rest of your life.
Why not let them take responsibility for themselves? Why not tell them that you are going to do what you need to do. And although you hope that it does not make their lives too difficult, you are still going to do what needs to be done.”
The Young Girl just looked at me and I could tell she was thinking about what to say. “I just don’t know. It is very confusing. I have plenty of collards to eat now without having to do anything. And the Rabbit, Owl and Bull are happy,” said the girl.
“But, are you happy,” I asked her. “Well, no... not really,” she replied.
