The Old Elf said that he knew that the crane wanted to know what to do in this new and changing world. He said that he would tell them what to do and that the crane must follow his instructions.
This new world will be full of dangers and other animals that will want to eat you.
So to be safe, you must only come out of your hiding places at night.
Flying is very tiring and hard work, so in this new world you will only walk from place to place.
