Page 17 - G-Beeing Civil
P. 17

I am willing to bet a lot of corn that some of you reading this recognized yourself in the classroom example. Do you ever daydream or not pay attention to the teacher? What about whispering to your classmates? Those are examples of being uncivil or rude.
And even more importantly, if you are doing those things, you are not learning what you should learn in your class. Being willing to take turns and letting others go first is being civil. In your school setting and in the rest of your life, being courteous (civil) will cause others to think well of you.
Why push and shove to be first in line at the water fountain? You will eventually get to it anyway. Learn to be patient by telling yourself, It does not matter who goes first. I will just wait my turn.
