Tammy was untruthful because she was not able to deal with what happens when you are truthful. We know that Tammy broke the other turtle’s egg. If she had been truthful, she could have said, “Tommy, I am sorry that I broke your egg. I know it was going to be your lunch. Is there something I can give you to eat from my basket.”
If Tammy had been truthful and willing to share, she would have been nice and she would not have blamed the other two innocent turtles. Now those other turtles are going to be angry with her for blaming them for the broken egg.
Instead of being untruthful about the grapes, Tammy could have said, “Tim, you are lucky to have found these wonderful grapes. If there are enough to share, I’d love to have some.”
Tammy would have been telling Tim that the grapes belong to him and asking him if he would be willing to share. If Tim did not want to share, our pretend Tammy would have said, “Thanks anyway”. But that is not what our untruthful Tammy said.
