I find it interesting that Howard acted a lot like many of you. How many times have you said to your parents, “I know, I know, quit telling me about it.” If you do “know” about whatever it is, then why don’t you do it? The reason is that you are just like Howard and want to do as little as possible and only if it is fun. And that seems pretty natural (though not too smart) for you humans.
As I said in the story, your “easy life” as humans allows you to develop some really bad habits having to do with personal responsibility. Most of us animals don’t develop those bad habits because we can’t survive if we do. Imagine what will happen if a rabbit does not dig a burrow to hide from the fox because, “It’s not my turn” or “I’ll do it next time.” Of course... there would be no next time.
