She is always squawking about this or that. Just wait and you will see Cosmos. Something won’t go the way she wants it to go and the squawking and flapping of wings will start.”
I was surprised that Polly was so disagreeable about things. So I asked my cousin, “Is it your custom to demand that everything be perfect? Do the other parrots expect that everything should go just the way they want it to go?”
He told me that most of the other parrots were not as demanding as Polly. Some get annoyed with each other when they are disappointed but not like Polly. She seems to think that every time something happens that disappoints her, that she should get really upset. She blames everyone and everything else for her disappointment and gets
really angry.
“How long does she stay angry?” I asked my cousin.
“I am not sure,” he said. “She stalks around with her feathers puffed up, with a mean look on her beak. Fortunately, she does not live with us, so we just leave when we get tired of all that squawking.”
It was at this time that we both noticed some commotion going on at the parrots’ nesting area. I asked what
was happening.
