A good example of this is the phrase “your tail.” Now, every squirrel has a tail and it is a very important thing to have. It is important for balance, for without it they would fall out of trees. It is important for warmth and without it wrapped around them in winter they would freeze. They use it to signal each other to the location of food or danger.
Anyway, the tail is very important to squirrels. To hurt each others’ feelings or just to get another squirrel angry, one will say something like, “You have a fat tail or ragged tail.” Now, it may not be true and often isn’t true but instantly, there goes the injustice sphere and the fight is on.
You have probably seen squirrels chasing each other up and down the trees and thought they were just playing. Well, probably one or the other or both just said, “Your tail.”
I know it sounds stupid to get that upset about something that does not make any sense but as soon as they hear “Your tail,” the sphere pops up and there is a fight.
Now this can be dangerous because one or the other might fall out of the tree and get hurt. They certainly are aggravating all the other squirrels that have to listen to all this carrying on. You would think that over time they would realize just how silly it is to get upset just because some one says “Your Tail.”
