The mother ferret looked at her four youngsters and said, “We must all live in our own homes this winter in order to survive. We must each start collecting and storing food and still plan to hunt during the winter. It will be difficult and I wish each you the best.”
And with that, the mother ferret, that had not been willing to argue with Fussy Ferret, walked off into the woods to find herself a new home. The other three young ferrets also walked into the woods in the three other directions.
Fussy Ferret was now standing alone in the clearing in front of the family home watching his mother and the other youngsters disappear into the woods. He then turned and went into the family burrow that was now his home.
