Purpose
For everyday domestic use, in threads or cords (but not ropes, since it jams), this
knot is a quickly tied fixed loop.
Tying
Make a reasonably long bight (figure 1) and tie an overhand knot with the
doubled line (figure 2). The twin knot parts should not form parallel lines, but
instead must be encouraged to cross over at each bend so that, as it is tightened
up, the knot beds down snugly (figure 3).
