Alumni Spotlight:
Matthew Martinez attended KEC’s Fire Science program
during his junior and senior years of high school. After
graduating from DHS, he obtained his EMT certification, and
subsequently worked as an EMT for both Banner Health/Platte
County EMS in Wyoming and Ridge Ambulance’s Critical Care
Team based out of Hinkley. Currently, Matthew works as a
Firefighter-EMT for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department,
Station 40 (West Annapolis.) Additionally, Matthew is attend-
ing paramedic school and will be graduating in the next few
months.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to attend KEC, as it gave me a
solid foundation to build on and progress in my career. I’d like
to thank all the instructors from DeKalb and Sycamore Fire who shared their knowledge
who shared their knowledge and helped guide me into the best job in the world. I’d
recommend the Fire Science program to anyone wanting to get into the Fire Service,
and I’ll always support this great program.”
