Executive Director’s Report
The monsoon is here, and it is a pleasure to have the rain. The cooler
temperatures are also welcome.
The Chapter has two new Board members and thank you to all of you who
voted. We had twice as many ballots returned compared to the $50 gift
card offer to confirm name, address, and email address we sent out in
December 2020. Again, thank you voters.
Before I decided to participate in the PVA, I was introduced to a man who
was about to become President of the National Organization. He told me
that PVA needed younger members who would keep the organizations
running in the future. He told me that one of the biggest problems was that
new (younger) members did not realize the decades of work, personal
sacrifice, and commitment that it took to place PVA in the top three
Veteran’s organizations. According to him, they feel entitled and do not
realize that they need to stay involved. Do you know PVA fought to start the
st
1 Handicapped Parking in New York City in 1946? Yet today we still must
fight to get enough decent spots. Yes, the ADA was passed 30 years ago
with our standards and influence. So, everywhere you go is wheelchair
friendly right? We all need to find those Veterans who are unaware and get
them involved in continuing to make the system better for us all. Or
perhaps the second largest medical system in country will continue to give
out only one box of gloves to each Veteran.
We are working on many new ideas to improve the programs we provide
and would appreciate any input that you have to offer as long as it is
sincere.
The Chapter office will be masks only until the D Variant is not dominating
and killing the community.
Thank you and stay safe
Peter Quinn, Executive Director
