Executive Director’s Report
I hope you are all staying safe. We are trying to avoid too many people in
the office and people need a mask to come in.
The Board of Directors voted to join National in helping with the National
th
Veterans Wheelchair Games in Tempe July 8 2022. Next year’s games
are to be held in NYC, NY. It should be an interesting time. Our Sports
Director Diego Suazo and Senior National Service Officer Michael Wilson
plan on going. Diego going to accept the torch; Michael is going home to
eat real hotdogs from a street cart. You see where he grew up and the old
Yankee Stadium lights lit up his yard was in total “daylight”.
The Chapter is still working on obtaining the Spina Bifida property on E
Fairmount Ave. just SE of the Phoenix VAMC. This property would/should
help us get more income and allow us to do programs that help our own
members and other Veterans. The one thing the pandemic has brought out
is how many hard working Veteran organizations live donation to donation.
Many will not be able to recover and we will lose many folks who help us
with so many outreach projects.
Speaking of tough times, for those of you who have noticed an individual
named Sean Stoddard in articles or Social Media, please keep him in your
thoughts. Sean is the head of ArcAngels and is also a member of the
Mesa Police Dept. A few weeks ago he stopped on Rt. 60 to remove a
ladder on the highway and was rear ended by a large SUV. His vehicle was
crushed and knocked 4 lanes over. He was cut out of the police cruiser. He
suffered a head injury and hopefully time will heal his injuries.
Please get your flu shots and be careful
Peter Quinn, Executive Director
