President’s Report
Happy February 2021 to all my Arizona Paralyzed Veterans of America Brothers
and Sisters.
It has been a while in the making but it has finally happened. PVA Arizona
Chapter has moved out of the building on 5015 N 7th Ave Phoenix AZ 85013 and
moved into the new facility located at 1001 E. Fairmont Ave. Phoenix Az. 85014
The Staff have been working tirelessly moving items from one building to the
other. Although all items have been moved there is still a lot of work to do at the
new facility to make it functional for the normal day-to-day activities that happen
in the Paralyzed Veterans of America Chapter office.
One of the first things that will be worked on is the apartment complex. There are
four units in the complex. They will be cleaned and upgraded. A major part of the
upgrade will be new air conditioners to each units as well as individual meters so
each resident has their own electric bill. After the units are upgraded they will be
immediately rented allowing the Chapter to have a source of revenue outside of the
grant received by National each month. Along with the apartment complex on our
property we also have a third building which is the group home. This will become
another source of revenue when it is completed. The group home will take a lot
more effort and time before we see it in its final stages.
As we move into 2021 many of you know this is the time of the year we start
preparing for the election in June. Chapter board members can run for are
President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasure. Along with these positions
ideally the Chapter would like to have at least 13 Board of Directors. With the
purchase of the new property we have some challenging bet exciting days ahead of
us. Our Executive Director Peter Quinn and our staff consisting of Matthew, Scott
and Dawn have been pushed preparing for the move and then with the actual move.
When we include doing all of the with COVID in our midst it has been sometimes
extremely difficult. But they got it done and now we are on the new property. Well
done to Peter and the staff.
As a result of COVID-19 PVA Arizona Chapter is going to cancel it’s April picnic
in Mariana and it’s June picnic in Prescott. I know these are two events we looked
forward to attending each year however, it is important to cancel them for the
safety of our members. If you have not had your COVID vaccine shot call your
clinic and they will schedule the appointment for you.
For the board members our next meeting will be held on February 26, 2021 at
10:30 AM. via zoom. If you are not a board member but would like to attend the
meeting call me Leonard Smith at 480-739-7068 and we will make sure you get a
zoom link.
