President’s Corner
I want to wish Happy February 2020 to all my Arizona Chapter Paralyzed Veterans
of America Brothers and Sisters.
Arizona Chapter Paralyzed Veterans of America, Inc. was audited on September
30, 2020. For every dollar that came through our doors 96.6 cents went to
programs. That means 3.4 cents went to administration and fundraising. This audit
was made available to all on our website AZPVA.ORG under financials.
th
Along with the recent outing with the Terrain Hoppers on January 20 , our Sport’s
Director Diego Suazo is working to put together the National Veteran’s
Wheelchair Games team. Please contact him at the Chapter (602) 244-9168 or
azpva@azpva.org to let him know you are interested in going. Southern Arizona
Adaptive Sports needs votes to get a grant; please visit our FaceBook page and
vote! We get major assistance from them along with Coach Hughs from U of A.
Dawn Quinn the AZPVA Donor Coordinator works diligently throughout the year
preparing for the Arizona Veterans StandDown Alliance event that takes place here
in Maricopa. The Chapter donates funding, storage and works to secure other
donations each year for the Woman’s Booth run by the tireless Gabe Forsberg. It
happened January 23, 2020 and January 24, 2020, at the State Fairgrounds. Over
200 female Veterans were assisted at the booth along with the medical equipment
the Chapter donated to help our Veterans who have run into hard times.
We are expecting a busy year as many new options are expected if we succeed in
our attempt to secure a new building. The staff is working diligently to see that all
options are explored to give us an advantage for a better future to serve not only
our members but the Veteran Community at large.
Our next Board of Director’s meeting is February 20, 2020 at 10:30 am, all
members are welcome. The location: 5015 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix Arizona 85013.
I look forward to seeing you all there. Also there will be a Membership Committee
after the meeting.
President
Leonard H Smith
