Executive Director’s Report
Well it’s not quite Spring but the 70’s are here. I hope you all had a great
holiday season and this year is better than last.
We have been busy, the Annual Report is out and our Prosthetics program
was amazing. For those of you who did not notice it in our Annual we
distributed 1.2 million in medical equipment and supplies. We are the only
loan closet in the Phoenix area doing power equipment. The Chapter sent
out almost 300 chairs and scooters.
To keep us busy as Phoenix continues to grow our property has become a
focal point of developers. At this time we have a couple of entities
interested in purchasing our property and we are looking to move closer to
the Phoenix VAMC. The Chapter is looking for an area to develop more in
house activities. Presently we are located in a building that is total office
space. In the heat, it is tough to hold social gatherings outside in the Valley
area.
Our Vice-President is working on bringing all the State shooting ranges up
to ADA code. We negotiated two ranges that we used regularly a few years
back; however as they updated other ranges the State Fish and Game
failed to keep their word about continuing the legal upgrades.
We had a visit from the Census Bureau and they asked us to get the word
out to Veterans that we needed to be counted. Apparently the government
feels that we are an undercounted section of the population.
th
For those of you who missed the off road event on the 20 of January; you
missed a good time. The only problem with Terrain Hoppers is that we
don’t have enough of them. The Chapter received two more in October
from grants and everyone seems to love them. Diego will be setting up
more events so keep an eye on your email.
Be safe and take care of yourselves
Peter Quinn, Executive Director
