President’s Corner
Happy January 2020 to all my Arizona Chapter Paralyzed
Veterans of America Brothers and Sisters.
As you all know Paralyzed Veterans of America Arizona Chapter
has had a very busy year. Our staff consisting of Matthew Jansen,
Dawn Quinn, Scott Gehrke and our Executive Director Peter
Quinn have been very busy running the day-to-day operations at
the Office. Prosthetics are a huge part of the operations because
they need to be picked up from donors from all over the valley,
counted and then entered into the computer on a spreadsheet.
Our staff also works in conjunction with the Spinal Cord
Injury/Disease Clinics in the hospitals. A lot of outreach is done by
Dawn Quinn as she works with Stand Down, various other
Veterans organizations and school districts in the valley.
In June 2019 we had our annual picnic and board meeting in
Prescott. The election results were announced and we picked up
a few more board members, as well as losing a couple. We are
continuing to educate those new members to the board as well as
fill needed positions.
The house in Chino Valley was sold. Much needed work had to
be done before we could get it sold. Staff was also going back-
and-forth to the home to make sure everything was in order.
One of the most important things that happened in 2019 is that we
received an offer on our building by two other entities. We made
an offer on another building closer to the VA hospital. If we sell
our building and move we will have a lot of work in front of us for
2020.
I expect that vacant positions will be filled and all board members
will make commitments so that Paralyzed Veterans of America
Arizona Chapter will have a successful 2020.
Leonard Smith, President
