Executive Directive Report – December 2019

The end of a long year is upon us and it has been tough as we have lost
many members and Chapter friends. As our members pass we are truly in

need of a National campaign to find and convince new Veterans that all the
amazing accomplishments that PVA has accomplished will start going
away if we do not continue to ensure the VA and our elected officials keep

their promises. More than once in history have Veterans been shorted
when we are deemed too expensive. Thus our younger Veterans need to
join the movement that was started in 1946 and that takes care of us today.

We normally have BBQ’s the first Saturday of April in Southern Arizona and
the first Saturday at the Prescott VA. Unfortunately our participation has

dropped dramatically. We are hoping to rebuild these into events that
surpass prior years and restart the local groups back into the collaboration
of members that provide the support needed for fun events and support for
maintaining the quality of care at each Veteran’s Healthcare facility in the

state. We must help each other so that we are all taken care of.

We are looking to develop a fundraising effort to wean ourselves off the

Chapter grant. There have been regular cuts and we have been in
discussion that possibly in the future, Chapters will be supporting National.
There are a good number of Chapters that have developed sources of

income such as apartments, annual solid events and other business type
operations to support their Chapter’s efforts. We will not get very far with
Amazon or Fry’s donations. I doubt most of our members, never mind the
community at large has the Arizona Chapter listed as their charity for funds.

Here is to hoping that 2020 brings all of you the best possible year you’ve
ever had. Maybe we can all put aside the constant anger that seems to

consume the world each day and just get a year of positive outcomes.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and have a safe and Happy New Year

               Peter Quinn, Executive Director
