Executive Director’s Report
Well two months of working from home did not prepare me for the
onslaught of people who also stayed home and decided to declutter their
homes.
We have a huge list of equipment to pick up and when folks are hearing us
say it’s a 60 day waiting list those who can’t wait are renting their own
trucks and dropping off almost every kind of medical equipment you can
imagine. I believe we have 18 power chairs on this pick up list as I write
this.
In the beginning off the epidemic we dropped off a check at St. Mary’s
Food Bank. It is always a great feeling when we also drop off 400-500 lbs.
of Adult Briefs with our cash donation. St. Mary’s is a great advocate and
we worked with them again in the city of Mesa and Mesa Veteran Resource
Center. Working with Sean Stoddard, head of ArchAngels; we managed to
get needy Veterans fed and keep them living a better life.
th
Things are moving along for our building sale. June 8 we will be ready.
Approximately a week later we hope to close on our new property at 1001
E Fairmont Ave in Phoenix. We will be three short blocks away from the
Phoenix VAMC. Our phone numbers will stay the same. As a side note; our
main number (602) 244-9168 was Frank Rigo’s home number and he gave
it to the Chapter after we finally got real office space. For those of you who
don’t know Frank he was a WWII Veteran who served 30 consecutive
years as the PVA Executive Committees Secretary. He had a great sense
of humor and did things that most of us would never consider.
As I am sure many of you have notice Summer arrived way to early and
seems intent on staying around. It is a shame people believe that the heat
will keep them from catching or passing the COVD-19 Virus. I believe we
were not prepared for the virus and worry that round two will again catch us
unprepared.
Be safe
Peter Quinn, Executive Ditector
