Executive Director’s Report June 2022
The weather has gotten towards the Arizona bright summer. We are busy
clearing our pickup list and sending equipment all over the state.
Presently we are in the process of supplying the National Veteran’s
Wheelchair Games with DME. I was amazed that they had to provide so
much equipment; I thought most Vets brought their own. The National
Team headed up by Jennifer Purser really have their work to get this
running. I sincerely hope they get a full paid week after these games.
Our apartments are starting to fill; by mid-June we will only have one left.
This should help as we continue to upgrade the entire property. Next on the
list is to find a solid plan that will upgrade the group home from a 3500 ft.
Loan Closet to a group home or transitional housing for Veterans.
Our Loan Closet has overtaken many of our peers and we find them often
referring people to us. It has helped in our outreach efforts and gotten us
involved with events such as Honor Flight and the Standdown for low
income and homeless Veterans; specifically, as we are large sponsors with
not just DME, but supplies gathered from other groups to help these female
Veterans.
If you want to request funds for 2023, then send a request to the Chapter to
get it considered by the Chapter Board of Directors. The budget vote
should be held at the July meeting. We will not be going to Prescott VAMC
for our picnic as there have been many personnel changes and getting
word out to our Veterans is virtually impossible.
Be safe, stay hydrated and enjoy the games
