April 2019 Executive Director’s Report
One third of calendar year 2019 has passed and half of the 2019 Chapter
fiscal year is gone. We are on another record pace with our loan closet and
received a $10,000 gift from Arizona Giving Program to keep us on track.
Arizona has been good to the Chapter and our community services have
improved many lives of Veterans, their family members and the community
at large.
th
We have our Annual Southern Arizona Picnic the 6 of April at Ora Mae
Park. This year we will be catering from Nico’s Mexican restaurant. 30 to 40
participants are expected. We are giving our Senior NSO Michael Wilson a
break as he will be cooking at the Prescott Hospital Annual BBQ.
Prescott will also be our election announcement so please take the time to
vote. If you have the time and willingness to support the Chapter you can
always put your name on the ballot. Notices have gone out and our election
th
committee will be starting to make calls and take names around the 15 of
April.
While Phoenix is staffed our Prescott and Tucson SCI/D Clinics are without
a Primary Care Physician. If you are having issues please call our NSO
Office 602-627-3311 and let them know. They are there to help but can’t if
they don’t know you are having a problem. Speaking of hospitals since
National PVA no longer wants Presidents or Executive Directors to be the
Hospital Liaison, Matt Jansen our Administrative Assistant is learning the
ropes. Ideally we would have a PVA minded and trained volunteer for each
hospital but our members seem to have a dislike for the job.
We would like you all to welcome Diego Suazo as the Chapter’s new
Sport’s Director. He will be setting up events around the state to try and get
out as many folks as possible. Diego is an aggressive athlete who hustles
from golf to rowing. If you want events in your area please call/email the
office and we will pass it on to him. We are looking forward to a positive
active program.
Summer is starting to arrive as we are already seeing days of 80+. Please
be careful and stay hydrated.
Peter Quinn, Executive Director
