Executive Director’s Report

Well summer is here and I read somewhere that the heat would slow
COVID-19 down. Well 116 degrees hasn’t been enough; so I wonder how
hot it will have to be to be a deterrent. I’d have to say masks, social

distancing and working from home will have to do. It’s real, be careful and
               protect you and yours.

Well our building situation has hit a snag. The apartment builders who
wanted to buy it have let us know they are still interested but they’d like to
wait to close until November to ensure that people can afford to pay the

rent when they finish two (2) years down the road. We have other offers we
are looking at. Spina Bifida is eager to sell and it will be a definite upgrade
to the potential services we can offer our own Veterans as well as others.

Speaking of tough circumstances, I was surprised to hear about our
National Secretary’s son who was blown up in a home of another PVA
Member. Unfortunately that member passed at the time of the blast. A 17

year old that gets blown up, burned and needs multiple surgeries can use
all the support he can get. Check out the link; I am sure you have some
unused vacation money, since we are all staying home to stay safe for

               ourselves and others. https://www.gofundme.com/f/v2mx7-help-dayvion-

The Chapter office is open Monday through Friday 9am to 4 pm. We were

open full time and staffed full time but after three employees had to be
tested due to outside incidents. We now have one person in the office and
the rest are working from home. The days people need to call for p/u and
drop offs. Our Prosthetics Equipment Closet is one of the only open in the
                                                                                  th
Phoenix area. We have a 26 ft. truck coming in the 14 of July to help send
our extra supplies to Southern Arizona. We are also looking for a place to
handle the large supply of clothing now that the company that Both

National and the Chapter has closed down permanently.

               Be safe,

               Peter R Quinn, Executive Director
