Gary B. Drumheller died December 23 in Phoenix Arizona. Gary was a Pottstown
native who graduated from Pottstown Highschool 1962 and then began a lifelong
career as a barber he started out under the apprenticeship of Pat Antonio, Pat
reluctantly took him on as an apprentice because of him being a south paw and
Pat swore he would never take on a lefty because they did everything backwards.
He opened his first barber shop in 1964 in the back of his family’s grocery store
“Drummy’s” and from there he opened the Spat and Slipper which he owned and
operated for many years in Pottstown. He eventually moved to Phoenix Arizona
and continued his career working at his own barbershop opening “Gary’s Place”
until his semi-retirement where he resided in Sun City Arizona, and then worked
for several shops part time up until his full retirement. Whenever he would travel
he would always bring his clippers and scissors for anyone that needed a haircut.
Gary loved golf and enjoyed the ability to play year-round in Arizona. Gary was a
proud to be a Mason and a member of the Stichter Lodge #254. Gary was a
Vietnam Veteran and, in his retirement, committed himself to working tirelessly
