Executive Director’s Letter
Well summer is over and we are back down into the low 90’s. What more
can you ask for?
For those of you who receive Bowel and Bladder from the VA; please
ensure with your Social Worker that all your paperwork has been accepted
and finalized. I have personally watched Phoenix’s Bobbie Anderson jump
through hoops with each change and new flurry of paperwork she had to
deal with.
The Chapter has a busy month with the Arizona State Fair and the
Veteran’s Information Booth. We will be covering all Saturday and Sunday
th
th
shifts during the fair, Oct 4 through the 27 . Come say hello if you are
there!
It is also our end of year and the Loan Closet; or Equipment Supply Depot
looks like it will set a new record.
We received 4 new donations targeted for two new Terrain Hoppers. If you
wish to try them out be at the Southern Arizona Sports Bike Ride on
th
November 17 . We expect all three Terrain Hoppers to be ready for use
and it will be a first come first ride opportunity.
We are looking for more opportunities to put on 1 day sporting events and
our Sports Director Diego Suazo is looking for and planning more activities
around the Chapter. If you have any sporting event ideas please contact
the office.
I was just notified that the Director Ms. Nelson is leaving the Phoenix
Hospital to be the new Director of VISN 10 which is in Ohio, Michigan and
Indiana. It was a pleasure working with Ms. Nelson and we have managed
to not only add to the Phoenix SCI/D Clinic but develop additional
understanding of our needs at the hospital’s highest levels. I wish her good
luck in her new position.
Look for Veterans who need our help. They are everywhere and we need
to find them. Engage your neighbor or that man or woman in line at the
grocery store. As a Chapter Member, we are ‘Still Serving’.
Peter Quinn, Executive Director
