The Provincial Grand Master
announces his chosen charities
The Provincial Grand Master decided that he would
like to nominate several charities for the Brethren to
support through their Lodges during the next few
years. It was therefore decided to ask each Lodge
within the Province to put forward their suggestions,
the emphasis being on local charities within their
respective areas.
The Provincial Grand Master decided that one major
‘lead’ charity would be chosen for overall Provincial
support, together with five other local charities as
selected by the Lodges.
All the Charity Stewards were contacted by W Bro
John Nicholson, the Provincial Grand Charity
Steward, and the process got under way.
The ‘lead’ charity was soon chosen by the PGM and
announced as The Fulford Trust.
He has undertaken to work closely with them to
increase the awareness of potential Prostate
problems amongst members of the Mark Degree. In
order to heighten this awareness, members of the
Trust will be attending our Annual General Meeting
at the Webbington, in May, whereupon all Brethren
would, if they so wish, be able to have a simple PSA
(Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood test carried out.
Later in this issue, we will take a look at the other
five charities as selected and submitted by our
Lodges. This will outline the core values of their
causes for your information, thus enabling you to
make an informed choice which will hopefully result
in your Lodge supporting the PGM and donate to his
appeal.
The chosen charities are:
Keynsham & District Dial-a-Ride
In Charley’s Memory
The Glastonbury Dementia Action Alliance
Personal Achievements & Creative Experience - P A C E
Taunton & Somerset Laryngectomy Association - T A S L A
