P A CE – Personal Achievement Creative Experience
The P.A.C.E. Group consists of a group of physically disabled individuals
that come together every Thursday in Frome for social activity.
The main individuals who attend are people suffering from M.S or who
have had a stroke. The Group is actively involved in the community, and
has had several meetings with the Council and Highways Dept. regarding
accessibility for the disabled in and around the community.
One of our biggest achievement as a group is being heavily involved with the Frome Army Cadets
which gives individuals stimulation to take their minds off their disabilities and to integrate with the
young people.
This was a fantastic activity involving the cadets pushing wheelchairs, supporting with
providing food and drink, and helping them to integrate with individuals with disabilities to
show that just because you have disabilities, you are still able to participate in activities

Taunton & Somerset Laryngectomy Association
TASLA
TASLA was formed in 2003 by members of the Head & Neck nursing
team at Musgrove in an effort to provide help and support to
laryngectomies and their partners/carers.
TASLA is a small group of about 20 members including laryngectomies,
both male and female ages ranging from early forties upwards and some
partners. We meet every other month usually a Thursday morning in the
Church Hall at St. James Street, Taunton.
We aim to keep our meetings informal and usually start with information and updates from the
Head & Neck Team (usually consisting of the Head & Neck Nurse Specialists, Speech Therapist
and Dietitian) and any current items from group members. We then use the remaining time to
catch up with each other. We have the usual Christmas parties, summer barbecue's etc, which
have been much enjoyed by the group and our families. We also take an active part in various
fundraising activities throughout the year.
TASLA members and their partners have found the group very helpful, especially in the early
stages of Laryngectomy, receiving and sharing essential information, encouragement and support
from new friends with a first-hand understanding of their situation.
We are always pleased to welcome new members and look forward to meeting you.
If you are in any way apprehensive about coming along for the first time we have members who
are more than happy to meet up with you some time beforehand for a chat.
