Robotics
The Priory Robotics team may be small, but its accomplishments are anything but. Whereas some schools boast a hundred team members and rely on outside fabrication, Priory’s team includes only a dozen or so students, and they do all the design, manufacturing, and fabrication themselves. Last year’s captain Kelsey Gosling led her crew through a grueling season of late
nights and weekends as they prepared their creation, Castle Crasher, to compete at the FIRST Silicon Valley and Central Valley regionals, where they won more than they lost and earned a trophy along the way. “The process really mimics
the start-up atmosphere,” says faculty advisor Richard Paige. “And it plays
well into the Learning Competencies. Resilience is really big, as are cooperation, collaboration, and communication. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about life in the real world.”
