What do you think about spirituality in the Priory community?
“I believe that students and adults all have a spiritual basis for their life. We don’t see it, but we can feel it. Priory acknowledges that spiritual part of each person. We have Benedictine values, which have to do with dealing with people as a whole entity, as a body and soul. We recognize the individuality in every person and respect it. We base the life of the school on the rule of a person who had a spiritual base of founding the monastery. Benedictine values were based upon the gospels. I think people are both physically and spiritually based and that adds a dimension that isn’t present in most schools.”
What do you say about the people in Priory that are not religious?
“It does not matter if a student is religious or not. Every person, student or teacher may have spiritual beliefs that are a part of their lives that are manifested in different ways. The whole idea of a spiritual basis for life, that is what everyone has.”
