The freshmen are tied closer together after their first retreat.
the freshmen
For the first time, the freshman class
gathered together and took their first retreat as a pack. This retreat changed the way the freshmen saw each other - afterward, they were bonded together by the spirit of what it means to be a Priory student. The freshmen went to Mt. Cross Camp in Ben Lomond where they participated in a ropes course program.
Priory's retreats are meant to teach the students about community, and how to take action in a community. Doing things that will impact a community no matter how small the impact can change someone's outlook on life. That's what Priory aims for: making each individual student have a unique lookout on life and everyone and everything in it.
The freshmen participated in an activity that involved teamwork, speed and jump ropes. It took the class awhile to get the whole class through the rope, but once they got the hang of it, they managed to smoothly go through 3 times before the chain was broken. It was a great bonding experience for the class because it gave them an opportunity to bound as an entire class.
The highlight of the retreat for some was the actual ropes course were they would be strapped into a harness and then, with the help of the guides, they would climb up trees and across ropes for them to get to the other side. For others, it was the “letters to self” traditional of the retreat experience. For everyone, the retreat was an excellent time to form new friendships.
For some freshmen, this was their first-ever retreat. How did their perspective differ from that of their peers?
Rheya Jain - “I learned a lot about myself as well as my new classmates”
Sophia Lipp - “The ropes course was the best part because it was fun being so high up.”
Daniel Goe - “It was great. The best part for me was the fact that we weren't in school.”
“Living with multiple cats.” - “My book.” -Michael Joyce (9) “It's Kind Of A Funny Story” - “Short girl that pets cats and laughs “I am better than Bailey” - “Hans Walker” -Hans Walker (9) CT Haesemeyer (9) Nick Treynor (9) a lot” - Siobhan Gillis (11) Patrick Tornes (11)
