Because it's one, two, three strikes your out at a classic Woodside Priory ball game.
The great American pastime is back in full swing at the
Priory. This season the field of dreams was filled with Panthers waiting to pounce into action. With junior Clint Finney (11) commanding the mound, and the additions of seniors Conor Bonfiglio (12) , Will Latta (12) and Brandon Zarringhalam (12) cleaning up at bat, the Panthers used this talented combination to lead the team to victory. Coach Connor Flannery used his dedication, talent and skill to invest his all in the Panthers and his work paid off with the Panthers securing victories against strong opponents. The season started off slow with a loss, but by the second game the panthers were in full swing. The most memorable game of the season was the Panthers' win over Summit Prep evening their season record to 1-1 at the time. Brandon Zarringhalam (12) led the charge saving the game with a double in center field, five stolen bases and three hits including the game winning RBI. Max Reines (11) allowed zero earned runs in three
innings pitched and Christian Wookey (12) helped in the game- tying RBI. Pitcher Clint Finney (11) was proud of his team this season. At the beginning of the season, Clint claimed, “The season started off a little slow. Last year we barely had enough guys to make a team but this year we have a lot more. The team's first win really brought us all together. The rest of the season is gonna be a great.” The baseball team did suffer last year when mid way through the season, the team had to unfortunately end because they did not have enough players to fill the bench due to injuries. However this year the team is stronger than ever. With one of the largest turn outs in Woodside Priory history, the baseball team has a full bench. Fans line the stands screaming and cheering on our Panthers who this season played Priory's rival schools such as Menlo, Sacred Heart, and Pinewood. Rain or shine, the baseball team played their hearts out all season. Their hard work, dedication, and countless hours of practice was all worth it.
