If you aren't in one of Priory's orchestras or choirs, you may wonder why anybody in their right mind would be willing to get up early and drive to school to sing or play music. However, a large number of Priory students do exactly this on many days rather than sleeping in. Before everyone else wakes up and comes to class, so many students are already learning, rehearsing, and working hard to prepare for performances and retreats. But these recitals are not the only things that bring so many Priory people of different ages and groups together early in the morning. The first time a new song is learned and
played, all the work of individuals comes together to create something bigger. It is a great feeling. The group dynamics that ensemble members build and the camaraderie everyone finds is unlike that of any other type of team. The cumulative efforts of so many people with so many different skills comes together and makes something remarkable, but as Ms. Paulson reminds her classes when the going gets rough, the success of a group depends on the effort of individuals. It's nice to know when you walk out of the music classroom that you have accomplished something awesome before classes have even begun.
