David Copperfield By Katia Queener and Eva Elfishawy
David Copperfield was the 2014 all school play at Priory. The whole cast was filled with energy and excitement to tackle this Charles Dickens' classic. Everyone got along well and had a lot of fun in the process. Julia Wu (12) excitedly declared, “I loved dancing around at random times back stage.”
The cast and crew both enjoyed spending time with one another. The chemistry that the crew had after spending hours with each other each day rehearsing resulted in an amazing show. It was a very supportive and exciting environment to be in.
When discussing the play with Francesca Mejia (9) she shared some insights about her favorite scene exclaiming, “I liked punching my hand through the kite”. Mr.Dick played by Maxwell Habeck made a kite
and Francesca's character, Miss Murdstone, destroyed it out of spite. She also excitedly added, “I really liked getting to be a part of this play because I got to know the new ninth graders in the play better.”
Maxwell Habeck (9) also shared his perspective on the production. He said, “I liked getting to know the new people and hang out with the cast and crew.”
The lead in the play, David Casente (11), explained the most difficult part was practicing his british accent. He explains, “I have never even attempted any sort of accent before this play. It took me a while but I finally got a hang of it after months of practice. I would go to restaurants and order food in a british accent just to make sure I nailed it.” Overall a phenomenal performance. Way to go panthers!
