It was a great year for televison. A new and popular TV showthisyearwasHow to Get Away with Murder, one of the first cable television shows to feature an openly gay relationship and mix drama with horror. American Horror Story: Freakshowwastheforthinstallmentinthe American Horror Story Series taking place in 1952 and showcasing one of the last remaining freakshows utilizing the most innovative costume design and special effects in televisionhistory.TheNetflixseriesOrange is the New Black swept award season and won the hearts of many withit'scaptivatingplotline.Downtown Abbeyfollows the lifestyle of a wealthy British American family in Yorkshire in the 1920's. Parks and Recreation finished up their last season and fans were heartbroken to say goodbye to Leslie Knope. Lastly the comedic ways of Modern Family,aclassic,alwaysputasmileonour faces.

Germany made history during summer the World Cup, held in Brazil, becoming the first european team to win in South America. After “deflategate,” in which the Patriots were accused of deflating their footballs, the country was anxious to find out the winners of Super Bowl XLIX. The New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. Richard Sherman, cornerback for the Seahawks, could not believe the interception made by the Patriots winning the game. Levi's Stadium opened this year causing students to rush to the stadium to see our 49er's play. The Bay Area was thrilled when the Giants won the world series- again! The LA Kings won the Stanley Cup, proving to be a great year for California sports teams. In the tennis world Serena Williams won the US Open for the 18th Grand Slam. Overall, a fantastic year for sports.
