English versus Western
English: Saddle is has a much slimmer profile. Stirrups are smaller and spurs are smaller. Very neat precise look in shows with little room to stretch the rules. Horses can be built taller and move very gracefully.
Western: Saddle is larger, and heavier, usually has a horn in the front. Larger spurs, not used as frequently. There is no jumping less formal clothing. Horses are smaller and stockier for events like barrel racing and rodeoing.
