Wakingupat5:30Saturdaymorning,todrivetwohours to a barn in the middle of no where isn't most students' ideal weekend, but this what the Stanford IEA Equestrian team faces many weekends. “I feel like the Woodside and Red barn are closer as a community then other sports teams” says Brianna Maroney (8). “Although there are so manypeople,youknowjustabouteveryonethroughshows, lessons,and events” (she said. Students active in the equestrian world know they aren't just team, but a community of riders who all help each other out and can understand the hard work and dedication this sport requires.

tofindtheirassignedhorseandtackthemup.“WhenI first started at IEA I wasn't very good tacking up horses, or getting them from pastures, but now my skills have improved, and I feel a lot more comfortable around them” said Livie Carusi (8). IEA does not just improve riding skills, but horsemanship, and coorporation as well. WhenridingatIEAshowsyoucatchride.Thismeans that riders pull a horses name then ride that horse. The purpose is to teach riders how to adjust to any horse, and ride them well. “IEA has helped me learn how to ride all different types of horses, which is really useful.” Tara Kariat (8).
