Going into their first game, the girls basketball team had serious doubts about their playing abilities. “There are no upperclassmen on the team, but we play at a varsity level,” said Tatiana Reese (9), “so it's difficult for us to play against other teams that have older players.” However, the minute they stepped on the court, they were doing amazingly due to their “confidence and dedication”, as Zoe Weiss (9) said. At the end of the game, the score was 46-17, with Priory coming out as the champion! That's no small feat for a team that doubted themselves so much. Gracie Hamren (10) believed that they won because
of their “amazing defense” and their “fabulous playing”. The team still has many more practices and games in the season, but they are sure it will pay off for them because they “always put hard work and dedication into their practices and games”, said Tatiana Reese (9). The one thing that the team says they need to build on is experience which only comes with time. They are hoping to maintain their energy and positivity throughout the season. Despite doubts early in the season, the hard work got great results in a very successful season with some big wins.
