Fractionalizing Inventory
B. Setting Minimums on Fractionalized Part Numbers
1. In the above example, note that the QTY has been converted to a decimal (.8, meaning there is 80% of a full package)
2. On the inventory page the MIN column is to the right of the QTY column
3. This column will accept entries in tenths which allows you to set an order trigger point at
less than a full package
4. MIN’s for fractional products are commonly set at .3, meaning that once the package has
less than 1/3 remaining it will become part of a suggested order
5. The recommended MIN for slower moving products is .1 and faster moving products
should be have a MIN of .5 or higher
C. Fractionalizing for RO# Assignment (recoverable products)
1. Often a shop will want a technician to check out a full package (for example a roll of attachment tape or a tube of glue) and have the ability to bill out smaller increments to an insurance company
2. In this example we will set up NOR.06421 to be checked out in full tubes and billed to an RO# in 1⁄4 tube increments
a. On the inventory screen, click on the “Edit” button next to NOR.06421
b. On the edit properties screen select “on Material Invoices Only” and type “1/4 TUBE”
in Checkout Unit Name and “4” in Checkout Units in a Billing Unit, click SAVE
