Unit (3) : Concepts of measurement

Converting metric length units:

➢ 1 kilometre = 1000 meter ( 1 km = 1000 m)
➢ 1 meter = 100 centimetre ( 1 m = 100 cm )
➢ 1 centimetre = 10 millimetres ( 1 cm = 10 mm )

Converting metric mass units:

➢ 1 kilogram = 1000 grams (1 kg= 1000 gm )

Converting metric mass units:

➢ 1 liter = 1000 millilitre ( 1 L = 1000 ml )

Converting metric time units:

➢ 1 week = 7 day
➢ 1 day = 24 hours ( hr)
➢ 1 hour = 60 minutes ( min)
➢ 1 minute = 60 seconds (sec)

Remark :

Elapsed time is the time that passes from the start to the end of an
activity

There are different ways to calculate the elapsed time : (add times)

Hours : minutes

4 : 10 ( Rename 70 minutes as 1 hour , 10 minutes)
