Video fluoroscopy shows abnormal secondary to soft tissue

(ligamentous) damage. Stability is dependent on ligaments .
Ruth Jackson, M.D., Instructor of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor University, in her book entitled The Cervical Syndrome (1977) said:
Video fluoroscopy shows areas of limited or unstable motion

resulting from ligamentous and capsular injuries .
Neurosurgeon Joel Ira Franck, M.D., reported on the value of
digital motion X-ray in the evaluation and treatment of patients

with lateral ligamentous instability at C1-C2 . The author has
experienced cases where the lateral shifting of the atlas has
been revealed on side binding with DMX where this condition
was not revealed on prior MRIs or X-rays.
