IVYTHORN HOUSE
THE FIRST FEW WEEKS
Millfield is a big place with lots going on and when
you first arrive it can be difficult to find your bearings.
It is normal for students to feel a little overwhelmed
by all the information over the first few days. The
experienced house team will work hard to ensure
that we are there if anything is needed. We will aim
to gradually introduce house rules and systems and
to ensure each student’s effective integration into
Millfield life. Regular house meetings and events
provide an important opportunity for us to come
together as a community and for the students to get
to know the staff, as well as each other, and to talk
through any issues or concerns. Nonetheless even the
most confident outgoing students will have bad days,
struggle with prep or miss their old friends. If your
child does go through a low patch, particularly in the
first term, then please let us know so we can discuss
your concerns.
We are really looking forward to
welcoming your child to Ivythorn and
getting to know them and you over
the next few months. Please do not
hesitate to contact us or pop in for a
chat: a quick catch up is always useful
and a great way of ensuring any issues
are addressed early.
