SOUTHFIELD
WELCOME TO
SOUTHFIELD
It is with great pleasure that I extend a heartfelt welcome to the newest
members of the Southfield community and their families. We are
thrilled to have you join our Southfield family and eagerly anticipate
the opportunity to build lasting connections and cherish meaningful
moments together.
I joined Millfield in 2010 after spending nine years teaching at a Sixth
Form college. My expertise lies in teaching various subjects including
A levels and BTEC in art, photography, media, and communication but
now resides in The Learning Support Centre where I teach a wide range
of English-based classes to neurodiverse students. Before embracing
the boarding environment, I served as the Head of the Learning Support
Centre (LSC) and Head of Personal, Social, Health and Economic
Education (PSHEE). Additionally, I held the position of advanced
practitioner and contributed as an Assistant Housemistress in Portway
House.
With a diverse background in both pastoral and academic roles, I
bring a depth of experience and insight to guide Southfield students
throughout their Millfield journey. My son, Noah, also lives at
Southfield alongside our beloved dogs, cats, and tortoises. Having
completed his own education at Millfield, Noah is now finishing his
film degree at Exeter University. He’s always happy to lend a hand and
enjoys playing football and helping out with the Lego Club!
Nestled on Chindit Avenue, Southfield boasts the largest garden in
the vicinity, complete with its own picturesque pond, affectionately
referred to as the Southfield 'lake'. Each year, this serene oasis attracts
a diverse array of wildlife, including breeding moorhens and the
occasional green woodpecker, adding to the charm of our surroundings.
At Southfield, we are committed to providing an environment where
our girls can truly blossom into themselves. We deeply value the sense
of community and recognise boarding as a unique avenue for fostering
resilience, self-assurance, and respect within a supportive and nurturing
setting.
Our house prides itself on the harmonious blend of year groups,
fostering a sense of camaraderie that we hold dear. The atmosphere
within Southfield is characterised by warmth and joy, with our
dedicated house team considering it not just a residence, but the girls'
second home. Their utmost priority is ensuring that every girl feels safe,
secure, and truly 'at home', empowering them to thrive.
Integral to our ethos are the Southfield Sister Groups, which play a
vital role in cultivating friendships across different age groups, a feature
cherished by our girls and celebrated within our community. The
Southfield culture places a premium on empathy and diligence, with our
renowned house spirit serving as a testament to our collective values.
Welcome to Southfield, where lifelong bonds are forged, and dreams
are nurtured amidst a backdrop of warmth, support, and endless
possibilities.
