                                             ST ANNE'S

As one of three ‘country’ houses, St Anne’s offers superb surroundings
and facilities for an exciting and first-class boarding experience. A
former manor house, St Anne’s has been a boarding house for the
majority of Millfield’s existence. The house dates back to the early
Victorian period and is situated in the lovely Somerset village of
Baltonsborough, just a few miles from the school campus.
I joined Millfield in September 2019 from Oakham School in Rutland,
where I was Head of Physical Education. Prior to this, I worked as
Head of Physical Education and Assistant Housemaster at Christ’s
Hospital School in West Sussex. Since being at Millfield, I have been
Head of Physical Education and Assistant Housemaster at Kingweston
boarding house. I am currently coach of the U16 Rugby and 7’s teams
along with coaching cricket to the U15s. Myself and my wife Sian
are keen trail runners and love exploring the UK and Europe in our
campervan with our son, Otto and dog, Rua.

There is a warm family atmosphere at St Anne’s, with the students
getting to know each other and the staff very well. House staff
strive to create a ‘home-from-home’, providing a relaxed and caring
environment which allows everyone to feel safe and respected.

Boys speak fondly of the fact that they have the opportunity to ‘go
home’ after a busy day at school. They also enjoy our own extensive
grounds and facilities which are for the sole use of the boys and their
visiting friends. Furthermore, boys at St Anne’s dine in House for five
out of the seven nights each week: this helps to foster a strong sense
of community by enabling friendships to be made across year groups,
as well as further developing positive relations among the boys and
staff. It also builds on an immense feeling of House spirit that is such a
prevalent part of life at St Anne’s.
