WALTON
WELCOME TO
WALTON
Walton House is one of our off-campus country houses.
Walton is in a unique position where the boys can enjoy
all the amenities and events that take place on the main
school campus and have the luxury of “getting away from
it all” to their very own ‘country house’.
I am the Housemaster of Walton with my wife Rosemary
and our daughter Poppy and Labrador Ralph. I bring
a wealth of experience, having held previous roles
such as Head of PSHE, Master in charge of Rugby and
Housemaster. Hailing from the Northeast, I am a keen
sportsman having represented clubs in the region for both
swimming and rugby. I have been working within boarding
for two decades with 11 as HsM. In my free time I enjoy
watching live sport and music, traveling and spending
quality time with my family.
Rosemary is originally from South Wales and completed
her studies in the Northeast where she read law.
Rosemary and Poppy relish the opportunities that
boarding brings and play a pivotal role in the family feel
at Walton. We are a happy, busy family that thrive on
being at the heart of a boarding community, and strongly
believe that the relationships they forge with parents and
students are central to the happiness and success of the
boys during their time at Millfield.
The facilities at the house include two common rooms a
games room including table tennis, table football, darts
and a PlayStation, a newly refurbished tennis court,
basketball court, a floodlit football/rugby pitch and a
multi-purpose gym. The newly refurbished dining room
provides a wonderfully spacious room for in house suppers
and special house events.
Our Aim:
Unique to Walton House, as one of the country houses,
is our famous ‘house spirit’. The supportive sense of
cohesion enables both individuals and groups to perform
above their expectations and hopes. Walton House is
very much an all-round house with a family atmosphere
and a sense of balance. We aim to provide a relaxed and
caring environment, which allows everyone to feel safe
and respected, with emphasis on being courteous and
polite. An environment whereby the boys very much look
forward to returning to at the end of a busy day.
