WALTON
LETTER FROM
A LOWER SIXTH
My daily routine is often eventful and enriched, starting at around 6:45am
in the morning. I will then take a shower, get dressed, hop on the coach at
7:30am, and have breakfast at school. I study A level maths, economics, and
design technology, a very challenging but inspiring trio. My dream career is
to be an entrepreneur, and these subjects help me build the knowledge and
understanding of basic international affairs as well as creativity, as I believe
innovation is key to business success.
On core games days, I chose football as my main sport where we train a
minimum of three times a week. I’m proud to be both a first team and second-
team goalkeeper, which allows me to develop my skills at a high level. At the
same time, I also represent ISFA (Independent School Football Association),
competing at a national level, which is a great honour and an opportunity to
showcase my ability on bigger stages. Additionally, I play for Street FC U18s,
with matches usually held on Sundays. Being in Walton has been a great
advantage, as having access to our own gym and football pitch just outside the
house allows me to further develop my strength and fitness, giving me an edge
on the pitch.
In the evening, I try and do something active, normally a kick around with
my friends on the football pitch or a quick gym session before having another
shower. After this I will relax with my friends or watch some YouTube videos,
and my day ends at around 10pm. My favourite thing to do socially is having
lunch with my friends. Friends from different boarding houses and classes all sit
together, chatting and socialising with each other.
As a country house boarder in Walton, I’ve further acknowledged the
importance of unity and kindness. In Walton, we use ‘Families’ to symbolise
our togetherness, showing that we are more than just housemates but brothers
with close bonds. Over my three years in Walton, I have become a more
mature and independent person. Now, as a Sixth Form student, I’m honoured
to be given responsibility and to be a role model to the younger students, to
guide and show them pathways to maximise the benefits during their time at
Millfield.
If there’s one piece of advice to give new boarders, I would say enjoy and
embrace every opportunity. Moving away from your family and adapting to a
new environment can be challenging, However, by stepping out of your comfort
zone and fully engaging in school life, you will build unforgettable experiences,
only if you get 'stuck in’, day in day out. Walton is the best house to create a
new chapter of your life with an amazing atmosphere.
I can’t wait to meet you!
