Community
This year in EAL, we have been extremely lucky to
continue building a small community within the
school.
Children have been able to build a group of friends
across year groups and nationalities and it has been
wonderful to see these friendships grow as they
share in their learning and the different activities
across their school life. Their spoken English has
developed incredibly, and it is with pride and joy
that we see them communicating effectively with
friends and adults alike. They are able to have 03
serious conversations and joke in English, which is
one of the signs of language mastery!
This year’s highlight has been without a doubt the 01 - 03 The International
Dinner.
We have covered so much this year, from Roald EAL dinner in which the children not only showed
Dahl and Paddington, to Floella Benjamin and their maturity and character, but also impressed
Shakespeare. We have also had discussions about us with their speaking and talking. Both staff and
our favourite sports and dream holidays. Peppered pupils had a wonderful time and it built up our
with grammatical focus, we have tried to introduce pupils’ sense of pride in their achievements and
our pupils to literature in English covering some their bravery being far away from home.
classics. We have also covered a range of written
formats that will support children across school It has been a wonderful year full of learning, lots of
and into their careers. hard work and laughter.
