            Reception
We started our first day in Reception by sliding into
class and then with smiles on our faces we wrote 02
our names for the first time on the register and
began exploring the new environment. We
explored autumn by going on leaf hunts, making
            patterns, exploring different shaped leaves,
comparing their length, and starting to write about
what we have found. The first term also saw the
first music lesson with Mr Hall, first French lesson
with Madame Luxon and our first chef of the week.
We also started our mini topic on the moon and
got to go to Wells Cathedral where the moon was
hanging in the centre of the cathedral, and we got
            to walk underneath it.

As the term went on, we got to go on a trip to the
pumpkin patch, where we chose our own pumpkins
and paid for them with our very own money. We
also bought some class pumpkins which started
our science experiment and our exploration of
the story Pumpkin Jack. The experiment lasted
the whole year and we have finally now planted
out our pumpkin plants ready for the children to
            harvest in year one.

This year, we got to join the Prep School
remembrance service and it was lovely to be part 03
of a whole school approach. For children in need The summer term was no less busy and we started
this year we danced our way through the whole back with celebrating International Dance Day 01 Pre-School Playtime.
                                                                                               02 Bike Skills.
day dressed up as superheroes and princesses and where we jumped on our magic carpet and floated 03 Phonics Session.
had the most amazing time raising a whopping around the world to try out traditional dances. As
£1,600 for charity. We ended the autumn term part of our jubilee celebrations, we danced around
with our amazing nativity and a brilliant Christmas the maypole whilst the Prep School watched on
party. and then we had a street party with all of our
                                                      friends.
To start the spring term, we celebrated Winnie
the Pooh day, creating a post office in our role- We also had great fun this term going on our final
play corner, stimulated by children’s interests, school trip with the Pre-School to the Wild Place
and watching an amazing hibernation storytelling Project where we saw lots of amazing animals
session. We also focused on healthy living, so we such as giraffes, zebra’s, leopards, brown bears,
went to the park to work on our gross motor skills, cheaters, lemur, gelada baboons and lots more, we
we completed a food journal and looked at what is had so much fun.
healthy and not healthy to eat.
When we return it started us thinking about
We celebrated Mother’s Day in style by making a how we could celebrate the end of our year in
video of why we loved our Mummy’s and painting Reception, so we created a plan with the Pre-
beautiful portraits which we presented to our School to produce an end of year production called
Mums in our assembly. At the end of the spring ‘Walking in the Jungle’. We then began the process
term, we celebrated Easter where we had an Easter of making the scenery, costumes and re-enacting
bonnet parade and a lovely forest school session the poem. We had lots of fun and the parents
making wooden Easter bunnies, matching eggs came and watched, I don’t think there was a dry
hunts, and eating crumpets from over the fire, eye in the house. We have had such an amazing
what a term. Reception year, thank you too all.
