Minerva Foods uses procedures that guarantee the welfare of animals sent for slaughter, such as suitab- le vehicles and appropriately trained drivers. Instal- lations are adapted with the aim of guaranteeing the animals’ comfort during their stay at the facility in order to avoid stress.
The Company has animal welfare programs in pla- ce at all units and promotes employee training that is provided by specialized companies with extensi- ve knowledge and experience in the area of animal welfare, such as WPA, BEA Consultoria and SPT. Among the same lines of responsibility, the Com- pany holds a certification from the Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization (PAA- CO), an internationally recognized institution in the area of Animal Welfare, composed of five Ame- rican organizations with expertise in best practi- ces, and scientific knowledge of the meat industry, accredited by the American Meat Institute (AMI). The suppliers with whom cattle negotiations are held, receive informative materials with guidelines on management, animal welfare, and good practi- ces for applying veterinary medications.
Through the Best practices in the use of vete- rinary drugs brochure, the Company provides guidance to its partners on adopting conducts and behaviors in order to prevent, control and treat diseases and on the application of vaccines and medications, respecting the waiting period, which increases the quality of production and the profitability of sales for suppliers.
Inspections and Audits

Industrial units and products made by Miner- va Foods are subject to continuous inspections by federal authorities. In Brazil, the Company complies with regulations established by the Mi- nistry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (or MAPA, its acronym in Portuguese) and by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (or Anvisa, its acronym in Portuguese). In Paraguay, Uru- guay, Colombia and Argentina, units undergo constant inspections by local health authorities.
