On the second day, after a night of camping at Corny Point Caravan Park, students utilised their culinary camping skills by cooking dinner on trangias.
The real adventure began when they met their surfing instructors at Daly Head. They were
given a thorough lesson in surf safety and the fundamentals of surfing. When they hit the waves, some challenged themselves to conquer their fears, while others improved their skills.
Students had a truly unforgettable experience when playful dolphins appeared,
swimming and playing alongside them. It was an awe-inspiring moment that
left everyone buzzing with excitement.
The transformation from tentative beginners to more confident surfers
was remarkable and a testament to the power of outdoor education.
This camp is more than just a chance to have
fun - it’s an opportunity for our students to build resilience, learn new skills, and push themselves out of their comfort zones.
During the final days of Harvest’s outdoor education camp, students continued to refine their surfing skills under the expert tutelage of Janelle and Kobie. It was remarkable to witness the steady growth of their confidence and aptitude.
After travelling to Berry Bay, students were given a fascinating lecture on Coastal Ecology and the coastline. They finished their day by cooking their meal on trangias, followed by an amazing sunset viewing at Corny Point Lighthouse.
On the last day, the students packed up camp and departed for Point Turton. After donning their gear, they received training in the art of snorkelling. Under Janelle and Kobie’s watchful guidance, they explored a variety of fish and coral and navigated deep caverns. The student’s performance was a testament to the instructors’ excellent training.
We take immense pride in the conduct of our students, and their experiential learning outside the traditional classroom setting was exceptional.
