English and Social Studies (Grades 5-8)

It was a wonderful school year for Middle School, and a delightful ending to my five years at AISF. In Language Arts, we pondered questions such as, "How can we tell what is right and what is wrong?" and "How do people respond when they see
others in need?". Through our examination of these questions, we read texts such as "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl, The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater, Refugee by Alan Gratz, and The Giver by Lois Lowry. In Social Studies, we investigated the
shrinking of the Aral Sea in Kazakhstan, researched the social impact of an HIV diagnosis in South Africa, and examined the far-reaching effects of the 14th-century Black Death.

It has been a great pleasure to be a member of this school community for the past five years. I will cherish the memories I have made over these past few years.
