Water- The Blood of The Earth
“When the well is dry,
We know the worth of water”
Truly these words of Benjamin Franklin speak in volumes, the greatness and the power of
this divine potion; poured into the world. With such an incentive thought I would like to
question by readers……
What is Water? What do scientists and astronomers search for, in distant celestial bodies,
as a sign of existence of life??
Water is the name of that powerful resource that is sustaining life, since ages. It is that
friend of ours’ who is supporting our life since we emerged in this divine nature. It is that
divine Mother of ours’ who gave birth to life to make the nature a lively one. Water is the
driving force of life in this planet that has embedded in itself the essence and the origin of
our civilization. It is like a life-giving containment, which as a magical spell has the power
to cure all the pains of the hell. And thus the sublimity and divinity of such a holy resource
did not escape the eyes of the famous poets, who have spent their lives, understanding and
expressing the complexities of this simple liquid. They said in a million words to express -
“If there is magic in this planet, it is contained in the water”. The ubiquity of water in biota
acts as the fulcrum to balance the existence of the biodiversity in the environment.
Ever since man has stepped into this disastrous nature, the search for shelter was the
reason for his roam, to at last find himself beside the water to make his home. Water, that
helped life to emerge, became the sole companion of the early humans to survive fittingly
and strengthen his feet on the earth. It became his only friend, and man found himself
beside the water bodies to settle the human civilization. Water as a heavenly apostle
descended on this earth to give it the look of the ‘Blue Planet’ that became the root of life.
Water not only helped the early civilizations to flourish but also brought out tremendous
benefits. It became the place of preference for man, which provided him with food, fertile
soil and navigational opportunities. Since then the dependency of man on water grew at
an ever-increasing rate. Water gave him the place to search for food, acted as a place for
worship of deities, to reside and to cultivate. It descended from the lofty frozen mountains
and flowed all the way down to the earth to give human, a solution to dissolve all his
problems. It acted as the supreme savior of man to make his living a better one. Soon, man
became important specie on this earth and got the power to grab the rule of the world
with the help of science. He acted as the king and relied totally on his minister, Science, but
forgot that science is a faithful servant, but a cruel master. And thus started a series of
